Another weekend gone

We had a pretty decent weekend! We had some MAJOR storms on Friday. Like, pull the kids our of swimming lessons because it was storming, 20 minutes later as they are in their 'safety' class, the sky is turning green kind of icky weather. We made it home ok but the kids were MAJORLY freaked out...as well as me. We had the "gang" over as usual on Friday night, it was sooo hot and humid, um, I'll let the pictures speak for themself.

Saturday Darik didn't have to work so we decided that we'd go to the zoo. We have the family membership and Darik doesn't normally get to go because #1-the zoo is always stoopid packed on Sundays and #2-that's his only day off. Since he got rained out this Saturday,we wound up taking full advantage of it. We didn't wind up leaving till about 10:30 so it had warmed up quite a bit by the time we got there, but we all had a blast regardless. This was the first time Madelyn really got the animals and everything and of course Emma told us that every animal was her 'best friend.' We stayed for just a couple house because it was right smack in the middle of naptime and well, Emma is the one who needs a nap more than Madelyn, still. We left about 2:30 and everyone took a nap when we got home. It was nice to spend the day together as a family. Here's a few pics from the day...

Yesterday was date "night" for Darik and me. His mom came over about 1 and we just went to Target for a few things, went and saw "Public Enemies" and then went to Outback for dinner. I really liked "Public Enemies." First off, my boyfriend Johnny Depp looked scrumptious and I was very pleasantly surprised that it was more of a story than just bank robberies. Good flick! The night ended with watching True Blood once we got the girls to bed. It was a nice, laid-back sorta weekend...just what we needed since this summer has been a little on the hectic side.

Sounds like a nice weekend (minus the crazy weather). :)

I know how you feel about really enjoying it when Daddy gets to go on trips like that. My hubby works too much so we really cherish those days.

LOL my Emma is in the best friend stage right now too. Except that it's me who's her best friend and when i have to reprimand her for being naughty she tells me I'm not her best friend anymore! Kids are too funny!

That sounds like an awesome weekend, Laura! I LOVED the pictures! And I'm glad to hear that the movie was good, I'd watch it regardless (heck, 2 hours of staring at Johnny Depp is worth beaucoup bucks in my book!) but the fact that it's a good film is just... gravy! :D
